Relationship
All right, so i received a request to blog about this topic (and i only have 10mins) - Relationship. And since this is a topic that pertains to everyone, i shall share some personal opinions on it.
By definition from the Oxford online dictionary (www.askoxford.com), relationship means
- the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected
- the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other
- an emotional and sexual association between two people
By these definitions, relationships exist everywhere. At the workplace, while you are walking along the pavement, in a train or bus, having your dinner at a coffeeshop and so on. It occurs every moment that you live, whether it’s with living things or non-living things.
Relationships are forged and broken every moment. The minute you forged one, you might have just broken another. That’s how tricky relationships can be. However, the forging and breaking of relationships also lie heavily on the person. Different people forge, break and handle relationships differently. We all have different agendas in a relationship. If the agenda of 2 or more people are the same, then things go smoothly and everyone is of value of each other. Likewise, if an item fits a person’s agenda, then that thing is of value. Of course, it’s vice versa.
It seems that what i have written so far point to the revelation that relationships and reality are so much interconnected to an unimaginable extent. Life experiences will tell you so. There are moments when we feel so embraced by Life, and there are moments when we feel so betrayed by Life. Perhaps these occurances that lie at opposite ends of a spectrum started out as a seed, nurtured and eventually bloomed at different ends. The source of fertilisation? Relationship. Every single thing that is involved in it. The way you treat, look and speak to others, your agendas etc.
It’s a delicate issue that requires utmost attention and effort every moment your life. Because a seed is blind and mindless, it’s only nurtured by the fertiliser that it is given. Every good becomes another good while every evil becomes another evil.
NDP 07 - Combined Rehearsal 3
So today i was tasked to be an accompanying teacher to bring a P5 class to the NDP 07 - Combined Rehearsal 3, which in school it’s known as NE show.
Well i shouldn’t dwell so much on the boring stuffs and bringing the pupils there and all that, i will just let the pictures and a 4min video of the fireworks do the talking. It was an enjoyable show i would say, full of surprises and minus the long, draggy and boring show segments of the past parades. Enjoy!!

Tennis
Went for my first tennis class today…was ok….not that fantastic and didn’t really sweat much. Shiren and I were basically playing the role of high ability pupils in a PE class who need to be challenged otherwise we will misbehave. And Shiren and I were precisely doing that throughout the session, and i was the ring leader. HAHA….
Perhaps it’s because of our training as a PE teacher so that’s why we were more critical about the session and felt bored. I didn’t enjoy the lesson but i enjoyed the tennis…haha…sounds chim? Figure it out yourself.
On another note, I have many suggestions and opinions about the things in school but it’s so tricky to express it. Wouldn’t want to step on people’s toes. Sigh….
Wouldn’t it be good if something unusual happen in my life…like my laptop can transform into a robot now…..
It’s all a show…and a blessing in disguise
So i went back to NIE today to collect my graduation gown. I actually didn’t want to attend the investiture ceremony, because i think it’s all a show and it’s meaningless. But the principal in my school told me to go or otherwise she will need to give an explanation to MOE.
Went in the morning, the process was swift and smooth…got my gown within minutes and headed to the canteen. Missed the tea from the canteen though it sucks (looks and probably tastes like drain water), each sip brings back memories of the times i had drinking the tea in the morning with the usual early birds, ryan and adrian….and also the breaks between lessons where i needed the tea to perk me up for the rest of the day.
After the late breakfast, went to visit some of my lecturers. Ironically, no one was around except for my supervisor during Teaching practice. So went in and had a chat with him. Had only planned to chat for 15mins..but who knows…time passes so quick…chatted for 1hour plus instead.
Talked about lots of stuffs…like the system in NIE, the available options and survival skills in school. Well, it was a rejuvenating chat i must say. Perhaps the situation im in now is really a blessing in disguise, i really feel so….i never wanted the crossover when i first entered NIE but somehow i got sucked into due to the influence and all the talk about it. My intention was always to go overseas. So sometimes i wondered why am i so bothered about not crossing over. Perhaps it’s because there’s a notion that my hard work wasn’t recognised. Well, maybe not to some ppl and on paper. Or maybe i knew i could have gotten the opportunity and thus had the luxury to openly and proudly reject it if not for a plagiarism mistake. So thus when i didn’t get it i feel really remorseful, and perhaps getting the crossover became like a second chance.
Anyway, it’s really a challenge from someone, something called Life….it’s really watching every moment. I’m also glad that this lecturer of mine gave me the assurance that i have the capability and he trust me to do well in the future. And i agree with him that i really need to open up my horizon. Going back to the same place, under the same system, seeing the same faces and hearing the same thing might really be detrimental to me instead. The brain is really something that ppl work on….we are shaped by the environment and our brain gets influenced by other ppl and culture…..
Lastly, this won’t get me down…cos i’ve always been a fighter…..

Field of dreams - Tribute to National Stadium
Hi..so one week of teaching just passed like that…it seemed more like a month to me. Was bogged down by tons of admin work throughout the week as i am taking a form class. Finally settled most of the admin work on Saturday.
Luckily Monday is a school holiday - Youth day and the weekend is a little longer. Otherwise, i feel like the weekend passed so fast. Even in less than a blink of the eye, it’s already 1am on Monday morning. Will be damn sad and demoralised if i have to go to school.
Didn’t do much on Friday night, basically rested and have some good sleep. Went back to school on Sat morning to finish up my admin work and then off i went to meet up with the rest at the National Stadium. It’s really a pity that Adrian couldn’t join us as he was down with a fever, but luckily it isn’t dengue and this long weekend serves as a good chance for him to recuperate. Get well soon, man.
Speaking of the National Stadium, i went there for the field of dreams - tribute to national stadium. There was the veterans match between spore and malaysia, woah..quah kim song and sundramorthy are still damn good…then followed by the intl friendly between spore and australia.
Ehh, the australians are really technically better and physically fitter and faster than our guys….you could already tell the gap between the standard of both teams through the warming up activities they do prior to the match. Well, i would say that PE teachers play a massive role in educating the next generation of sports talents and in influencing the way things are being done.
The soccer matches were interspersed by some events to mark the closing of the national stadium, there was Mr K, my lecturer at NIE, carrying the touch and lighting the cauldron, a trip down memory lane, a pararde by 600 team singapore athletes, performance by kit chan, fireworks and declaration of the closing of the stadium. The atmosphere there was superb considering that the stands weren’t filled, definitely lose out to the malaysia cup matches, where i went to watch some of the games, and the opening of the S-league. Nonetheless, it was good to be part of the history and this will serve to be a great story to tell my young charges who never had the chance to visit the national stadium.
Went to this event with kaixin, jianwen, shiren and shuyu…like i said earlier it was a pity adrian couldn’t join us. Also show jojo and seri the way to national stadium where jojo met up with her uncle and cousins. The aftermath of the event was like the malaysia cup days, heavy traffic (both humans and vehicles) but it wasn’t too bad as this was going to be the last time i get to witness such a sight. We only managed to get on the bus to city hall after missing 7 buses.
Went for a late dinner at bras basah and talked about school. Reached home at about 3…..it was good..haha..haven’t been staying out till so late…and especially in the midst of such heavy workload, it is good to strike a balance. haha.
Alright, that’s all…enjoy the pics and videos from the event.
The score
Mr K leading some athletes and lighting up the cauldron
Singapore and Australia team coming out from the tunnel
